Clearwater Soap Works produces natural handmade transparent soap bars of the finest quality and variety that leave the skin, the water, and the conscience clear. We embrace and encourage a healthy respect for nature, while promoting the benefits of aromatherapy, natural skin care products, and living in harmony with nature.
As part of our mission, we strive to provide you with as much high quality, detailed free information as we can about natural soap, pure essential oils and aromatherapy, and natural products in general so you can make safe choices and informed decisions for yourself. We also work hard to provide the best value for the highest quality pure essential oils available from around the world so that more people may enjoy the wonderful benefits of aromatherapy with the essences nature has in store for everyone.
Where We Are
Clearwater Soap Works is located in the Clearwater River Valley just North of the town of Clearwater, in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Living in such a beautiful location, it is easy to be inspired by nature to live as harmoniously with it as possible. One of the ways in which we found we could promote healthy living in a healthy environment was to produce a beautiful soap that is as natural as possible.
How much more natural can you get? We make exceptionally natural transparent aromatherapy soap by hand, using all natural ingredients, in a log cabin nestled among the trees in the Canadian wilderness, near majestic Helmcken Falls in Wells Gray Provincial Park. Even our custom pieces of equipment are engineered, designed, and handcrafted by ourselves.
Who We Are
Clearwater Soap Works is a natural handmade soap manufacturer, and the company was formed in 2004 by Helga van Oostveen and Ryan Papp. Helga holds a Bachelour of Science Degree in Chemistry from Simon Fraser University, and has eight years of experience in industrial laboratories and Quality Control departments. These qualifications enabled her to develop a method and apparatus to handle the process of making natural transparent soap by hand safely and effectively, and in retail and wholesale quantities. Her technical expertise and eye for quality are well matched with her love for nature and natural products. Helga is the company owner, formulates the essential oil scent varieties and the soap recipes, and is the primary soap maker.
Ryan Papp is a Mechanical Engineer and is responsible for all the technical aspects involved in the business. He designed and fabricated many labour saving devices, which enable Clearwater Soap Works to safely and efficiently produce natural handmade transparent soap in a high quality and consistent manner. Our Personal Soap Experience
Helga has sensitive skin and found that using her own natural transparent soap, instead of mass produced soaps, detergent shampoos and conditioners, improved her skin and hair in many ways. In all but the driest and coldest weather, she no longer needs to use skin creams or lotions, and she no longer suffers from dry, itchy skin. Her hair has become significantly more manageable and healthy looking. It blowdries faster, and a brush can easily run through it without using conditioner. She has also found that the occasional blemishes and acne that she used to tolerate as “normal” have greatly reduced in frequency and severity. Helga loves to use Clearly Sunshine, Lavender & Lime and Flower Meadow.
Ryan has always had oily skin and hair, and washes frequently. Since using our own natural transparent soap, the flaky scalp he used to get from washing with detergent shampoos is gone, as are his dry and itchy skin patches. He has also been impressed by our natural soap’s ability to get him squeaky clean after a long day of metalworking or vehicle maintenance. Ryan particularly enjoys Clearly Forest, Licorice Mint and our newest variety: Tea Tree & Clove.
